Valentine's Day Celebration

The season is upon us, so join the Kingdom of Acre as we celebrate Valentine’s Revel as a Carnival in the Italian style. Carnival in Italy is known for food, poetry, parades with masks and floats, and (surprisingly) food fights. For food we will have an Italian feast, including a dayboard.

For poetry, we will hold an inappropriate limerick contest and our annual Cheesy Pickup Line contest. For the parades, we will have masks available to decorate, and for floats, we invite guests to create (in advance, at home) a grand and float-like centerpiece to adorn their table. A prize will be given for the best entry!

The day’s activities will include heavy list fighting, with our traditional Rose Challenge Tournament, plus a Jeopardy Tournament to choose our Violetta, an important figure in the activities to occur later in the event.

Indoor activities during the afternoon will include an inkle weaving class presented by Lady Rosalie, and a felt heart and a Scandian woven heart class by Galiena, plus various other entertainments to be announced.

Oh, did I forget about the food fight? Of course I didn’t. We will be re-enacting the Ivrean Battaglia delle Arancie, the Battle of Oranges (in a somewhat less messy fashion), which commemorates a twelfth century battle.

Site opens at 11:00 for set-up and the event will commence at noon, and end at 7PM.
